Make your shopping ads stand out from your competitors with Merchant promotions. You can now create online promotions to increase the appeal to potential customers and even build your brand awareness. Each shopping ad will contain a ‘Special Offer’ icon in which the customer can click onto and be shown either a discount, a complimentary gift with each purchase or a delivery discount.

So how will this affect your ads? By grabbing the attention of potential customers, you’ll see an increase in the number of conversions and a higher click-through rate (CTR). The promotional offer is clearly shown underneath the product listing, before the customer visits the website. If they aren’t interested, they simply won’t click, and you don’t have to pay a penny.

How to set Merchant Promotions up

Before you start, you must have Google shopping ads running and a Google Merchant Center account.

1. Activate Merchant Promotions

Complete the Merchant Promotions interest form and you will be notified once your account has been approved.

2. Use the promotions tool

Rather than creating a promotions feed, you can manually enter individual promotions. This is a handy tool if you only have a couple of offers you want to promote, however if you’re promoting various offers, I would advise creating a feed within a spreadsheet. Once you’ve entered the requested details, you can save and submit.

You must note that the promotion won’t run unless you offer a visible discount during checkout.

If you haven’t already, take advantage of this great, yet simple tool and start advertising your promotions today.

You might also want to make sure that your website doesn’t come across as a faceless machine. You can avoid this by making sure that your comms to clients make use of corporate headshot photography.
